Getting up to date!!:)

CONTAINER HOSTELS

The following three pictures are of a model that i was asked to build for a hostel. The hostel is being built using recycled shipping containers. The hostel park consists of several buildings like this one with a central park in the middle. Three containers forms each floor. One container is for ablutions and the other two are divided into rooms. A roof is then put over all three to create a communal space in the middle of the floor. The ground and first floor have the same layout.

INTERIOR OFFICE SPACE

The following images is of a model that i have built as a proposal to an interior office space. The space consists of a conference room (the green shape) a pause area with cafeteria bar and an atrium (at the back)

In the rest of the images the conference area has been flipped around so that the glass side faces the atrium, letting in more light.

The last two images are of the same space but with people. Some of the colours have also been changes and the material surfaces have been set to make the image as realistic as possible.

GLENWOOD HOSTELS

This is a plan of hostels that are to be built, also in George but separate from the images above. I had to re-arrange the layout of the hostels on the property and render the drawing. The one drawing is just of the foot print if the areas and the buildings. The other drawing shows the interior layout of the hostels.

Exercise 5 - final of community hub project

Here is the link to my project. My project consists of 6 pages.

For some reason my issuu account is displaying the pages as portrait when i saved them in landscape format. Because of the the drawing are stretched and out of proportion.

I dont know how to fix this but i have posted the pages up anyway to show that i have done the project. I will bring hard copies of the drawings to the block next week to show how they are meant to look.

Now that i check again, it seems to be working and the pages are in landscape. but just in case they are not, i have explained.

Bree Street

One of the associates in our office is busy with a high rise building on Bree Street in Cape Town. He asked me if i could develop a 3D sketchup model for the bathroom design of the building so that he can present it to the client, allowing them to decide on the materials.

Here are perspective images of the 3D model of the bathroom that I built.

ERF 142924

The small job that I did a while ago, regarding ERF 142924 has since developed.

Three living spaces (3 - 4 bedrooms each) have been proposed for building. I was given the job to arrange the different spaces in the houses as well as their furniture.

Getting up to date ( ",)

I have not uploaded any work in the past few days because i have been trying to find a way in which i can upload PDF's onto my blog. Previously i have just print screened my PDF's and copied them into paint and uploaded them as an image, but my drawings are beginning to become a little more complex, and uploading them as an image is not clear enough anymore.

But i have now set up an ISSUU account where i can upload my work as PDF's:) I will now just post the link to my ISSUU account onto my blog so that my work can be seen.

ERF 142924

This is a small task that someone in the office asked me to do quickly. Its not very impressive but i thought i should post it anyway. All i had to do was to correct the contour lines on the drawing after wiping off the on site buildings from the original drawing.

MELKBOSSTRAND EDGE CHURCH RENOVATIONS

This project was probably the most complicated task that i have been given so far. It looks very impressive, but all i had to do was add the new renovations to the already existing church. After adding the renovations, i had to make sure that the drainage and electrical layout fitted with the new additions to the building.

On my Mind

Okay, to be honest the past week or so has been really quiet. I am starting to worry that there isn't enough work around here for me to do. I don't know if its too early to be worrying about whether to change jobs or not, but I can't say that I feel like I learning much this year. First thing I did this morning when I walked into the office, was speak to the director of the company about the above.

So he gave me something to do, which I have now completed and must still load onto my blog. I am currently busy with changes to the Val de Vie model that I was busy with last month, which I will post once its finished. I feel that when I ask for work, I get to do all the small favours for everybody else. All the odds and ends of projects that are not really teaching me anything, because they would rather give the worth while work to someone who ca do it faster. My company does not trust me with work, and I can understand that that may be the case for the first couple weeks, but im don't picture learning anything new if I'm not exposed to anything new.

Perhaps I'm over reacting, but ill just see how the next few weeks go.
